Get Ready for Kindergarten!

Going to Kindergarten is a big step for children. As a parent or caregiver, you can help your child prepare for this important transition to kindergarten ready to succeed! Follow these steps to get ready for kindergarten:

Step 1
Contact your local school district to find out which school your child will be attending
Download a contact list of Delaware school districts and charter schools here.

Step 2
Request a registration packet from your school.

Step 3
Set up an appointment at the school to return the completed paperwork.

Step 4
Register early.

You will also need to gather several documents before you can enroll your child in kindergarten. Download a check list here.

  • Proof of Immunizations
  • Proof of a physical exam

    Call you doctor to schedule a physical exam and a document signed by the doctor.

  • Lead test/Tuberculosis test

    Be sure to schedule these important tests during your child's physical exam.

  • Proof of Residence

    Please check the information within your registration packet to see the specific list of what is needed for proof of residency.
